संसार-धाम्नि सुख-दुःखाभिभूताः
कदा प्रीताः कदा भीताः
कर्मफल-भोग-निमित्तं मुहुर्मुहुः
मर्त्त्यानुभूतिं लभन्ते जीवात्मानः ।
अदृष्ट-कर्म-बन्धनैः
अनिच्छयापि सर्वे समाच्छन्नाः
विषमे संसार-प्रपञ्चे
वैचित्र्यमय-रङ्ग-मञ्चे
कथञ्चिद् धृत-प्राणाः
सहन्ते सुगन्ध-दुर्गन्ध-जातम्
सर्वं बन्धन-कष्ट-कण्टकम्,
तथापि चलति जीवन-यात्रा ॥
आबद्धाः केचिन् मोह-बन्धनेन
केचित् स्नेह-बन्धनेन
केचित् पुनः प्रेम-बन्धनेन
कदाचिद् हेम-बन्धनेन,
केचिद् भोग-बन्धनेन
केचिद् वा रोग-बन्धनेन ॥
केचित् क्षमता-जालाबद्धाः
केचिन्ममता-मालाबद्धाः,
केचिद् भक्ति-बन्धन-युक्ताः
केचित् पुनः शक्ति-बन्धनासक्ताः ।
भाव-बन्धनात् सौख्यमय-परिवाराः
प्रतीयन्ते विषोढ़-विषय-क्लेश-भाराः ॥
अन्धीक्रियते माया-बन्धनेन सर्वं जगत्,
तथापि पार्थिव-सुखं तेनानुभूयते
मृग-तृष्णिकावत् ।
बन्धन-शृङ्खला सर्वथा विद्यते,
निर्बधना इव स्थातुमपि शक्यते ।
परन्तु बन्धनं नूनं चिरन्तनं
न केवलं स्वात्मनि
परत्रापि लक्ष्यते अहन्यहनि ॥
व्याध-कृत-बन्धना मृगा इव
महाकाल-जाल-बन्धनात् सन्ततं
कथं वा मुच्यन्ते प्राणिनः,
पिञ्जर-मुक्ता यथा विहङ्गमाः ।
भवन्तु नितरां भवानुरागिणः
अथवा विरसा विरागिणः,
भोक्तुं स्वाधीनताया मधु-स्वादम्
कृत-प्रयत्नाः सर्वे प्रसारित-हस्त-पादम् ॥
समस्ताः संसारिणः
धन-जन-जाया-माया-बन्ध-ग्रस्ताः
रागाशंसि-संसार-कारागारे
ऊर्मिले फेनिले नील-पारावारे
सन्तरण-तत्परा निरन्तरम्;
प्रतिक्षणं प्रतीक्ष्यते मुमुक्षा ।
सर्वं बन्धनं न दुःखदम्,

* Born on 5 May 1956 at Sinapali, Orissa.
* Studying in Ravenshaw College Cuttack, from Utkal University: B.A. Sanskrit Honours,
First Class First with Distinction (1975).
From Banaras Hindu University : M.A. Sanskrit First Class First, Gold Medalist (1977),
Ph.D. Sanskrit (1981) and Diploma in German (1979).
* A researcher, creative writer, critic, poet, lyricist, composer of songs, orator and translator.
* Writes in Sanskrit, English, Hindi, Oriya and Koshali languages.
* Research articles, scholarly essays and poems published in the leading journals and
magazines of national and international levels.
* Participated in literary workshops, seminars and conferences of state, national and
international levels including World Sanskrit Conferences.
* Scholars of some universities such as Sagar University and Utkal University
have done research on the author and his Sanskrit lyrics.
* Father Poet Narayan Bharasa Meher and Mother Smt. Sumati Devi.
* Grandfather Poet Manohar Meher known as ‘Palli-Kavi’ or ‘Gaņa-Kavi’ of Western Orissa.

[ The famous Mantra of Savitŗ appears in the Ŗg-Veda.
“ Tat Savitur vareņyam bhargo devasya dhīmahi, Dhiyo yo nah prachodayāt.”
Prefixed with Mahā Vyāhŗtis Bhuh, Bhuvah, Svah and Praņava Om, this forms Gāyatrī Mantra.
ॐ भूर्भुवः स्वः
तत्सवितु-र्वरेण्यं भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि,
धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात् ।
It means :
“We meditate on the adorable excellence of God Savitr who would stimulate our intellect.”
Gāyatrī is the power of God Savitŗ (Sun). She is worshipped in three forms in spiritual perspective. Rays of Sun are the givers of life and well-being to the worldly creatures, also are described as the panacea for all diseases from scientific point-of-view. A synthesis of spiritual and scientific conceptions is presented in this song.]

Om Auspicious Bhūh, Bhuvah, Svah.
We meditate on the Goddess who stimulates our intellect. She is the adorable power of God Savitr well-worshipped by the world. She is known as Gāyatrī, Sarasvatī and Sāvitrī. (0)
She is the Goddess of Speech eradicating all the gloom. She has thousand-rayed illustrious hands. She is the form of auspicious wisdom. In her, all ignorance is subdued. She is the illuminating splendour and the predominant power enumerated in the scriptures. (1)
She is the beauteous goddess endowed with pure and fair Sattva guņa. She has swan as her conveyance. Destroyer of all mundane sufferings, she is the form of auspiciousness and bliss. She is verily meditated upon and worshipped by the people. She is the bestower of beatitude, is celebrated as the mother of the Vedas and is attributed with utterance of the Śruti. (2)
She is eternally praised and is conducive to the path of truth. Conferring weal, she is the root-cause of creation, sustenance and dissolution of the world. She is beyond mundane hindrances. She enjoins the forms of Trinity, i.e. Brahmā, Vishņu and Śiva. She is the resort of the noble ones. (3)
She is the quintessence of auspiciousness and divine excellence. She is the revered goddess, lotus-faced. Devotional worship to her gives all the well-being. She is the sustainer and enhancer
of righteousness. She is the unique letter OM. (4)
She cures all diseases and annihilates all mundane pains. She is the life-giving energy. She destroys all evils. She is replete with all purity and holiness. She is the controller of the world, is the stimulator of our thoughts and is the divine purifier everywhere. She is bestower of boon and is golden-figured. She is the adorable energy of God Savitŗ well-praised in her trio. (5)

Rāma’s Coronation in the Vision of Sītā (Tapasvinī)

In the flow of the river
of devotion-to-husband there,
Sītā’s life was floating,
and in eddies, was restlessly rotating.
Unable to bring and keep
her life in own lap, Dame Sleep
approached Yogamāyā,
and apprised : “O Goddess ! Life of Sītā
has today gone beyond
the human heart’s bond.
For twelve years
Virtuous Maithilī,
permeating her bed with tears,
managed to come slowly
in my lap once even.
But today despite my frequent call
in my very sweet tone,
she not at all
paying heed to it, alone
proceeds to the state of heaven.
Idols of eyes, her twin sons,
from her eyes shall now disappear.
All the ten directions
shall seem darkened for her.
In this life of hers
no sun-rise of happiness appears.
So much devoted to her husband,
what fruit did she acquire at the end ?
Kindly make her future bright.
Let the poor lady behold it.
Pouring water from eyes
in her life’s basin,
the sobre lady obtained the grand
garden of devotion-to-husband.
Neither any flower bloomed therein,
nor did any fruit appear.
Ah ! Tell me please,
would the life
of the virtuous wife
so desperately suffer ?”
Yogamāyā directed : “Come, My Friend !
Cool night is at its end.
Approaching the devoted Sītā now earlier,
we both will reveal the secret of her future.”
With Sleep, entered Yogamāyā hastily
in the cottage of Maithilī.
By celestial lustre, the sylvan site
continued to shine.
Surface of earth turned replete
with the fragrance divine.
By the aromatic affluence
horripilated, Sītā’s life aroused.
Under the splendour’s influence
her eyes became closed.
There appeared the scene.
Lustrous Sītā has been.
World is being illumed further
by her effusive lustre.
Resplendent with blooming mien,
King Rāma with herself as Queen
has ascended the bejewelled throne there.
Kuśa has sat in the lap of Rāghava,
and in Sītā’s lap, Lava.
Holding the lifted umbrella,
Lakshmaņa, the husband of Urmilā,
has stood anear.
Moving the charming chowery moonbeam-fair,
Bharata performs his own duty.
Holding by hand, Śatrughna moves there
the fan prepared with peacock-plumes pretty.
In the mouth of future,
life-lustre of every creature
is flowing apace
forming a stream of river.
Crores of men and women thither
are performing ablutions in the very stream,
knowing it a great place,
sacred, noble and supreme.
By and by, the stream
with its physical expanse
advances towards the ocean of time
in great distance.
Gods and demi-god Vidyādharas with love
are offering from above
soothing showers
of beautiful flowers.
Gods, with demons all,
serpents, human beings
and nymphs celestial,
are permeating there
the entire mundane sphere
with ‘Victory-to-Sītā-Rāma’ chantings.
In every house, in every life, in every city,
in the river-boat, in the bark of the sea,
in every cavern,
at day and night,
in the even and the morn,
in dolour and delight,
in the hearts of the affluent
as well as of the indigent,
reigns ever-reverberant
the ‘Victory-to-Sītā-Rāma’ chant.
Observing all these,
stood entranced at the scene
Crest-crown of the chaste ladies,
the Great Queen.
