Academy of Bengali Poetry, Kolkata-700054 with Chairmanship of Dr. Abhijit Ghose, awarded “Acharya Prafulla Chandra Roy Smarak Samman"-2010 to Dr. Harekrishna Meher, Sr. Reader and Head, Sanskrit Department of Sanskrit, Government Autonomous College, Bhawanipatna, Orissa, for his contribution in Art and Literature, in its function at National Library of India, Kolkata in Jan 2010.

Harekrishna Meher honoured with 'Gangadhar Meher Samman' :

Swabhava-Kavi Gangadhar Meher (1862-1924) is well-known as 'Prakriti-Kavi' of Oriya literature. State Level Kavi Gangadhara Meher Jayanti was celebrated by Orissa Sahitya Akademi in collaboration with Barpali Gangadhar Meher Club at the poet’s birth-place Barpali on 24 August 2010 on the day of Sravana Purnima. Several speakers delivered speeches on poet’s life and literary works. Prof. Dr. Niranjan Panda, Chairman of Western Orissa Development Council, was the Chief Guest there.


On this occasion, Dr. Harekrishna Meher, Sr. Reader and Head of the Department of Sanskrit, Government Autonomous College, Bhawanipatna, Orissa, was honoured with ‘Haripriya Mund Memorial Gangadhar Meher Samman'-2010 for his contribution to popularize Poet’s literary works such as ‘Tapasvini’ kavya through trilingual translations in Sanskrit, Hindi and English.
