 Yamuna-Gitam  (Song for Yamuna)
= = = = = = = = = = =

Yamuna, the close companion of Ganga,
bears graceful gestures.
Yamuna has blue waves and comely limbs.
Yamuna with blue waves bears wavering glances.
Yamuna, the close companion of Ganga,
bears graceful gestures.
Yamuna has blue waves and comely limbs. (0)
*
She is Yamuna, on whose banks, in holy water
and under beautiful Kadamba tree,
Krishna, who churned the pride of Kaliya serpent
and eradicated fear from people’s mind,
has enjoyed immense sportive pleasure.
Where is her lovely sacred figure
that possesses friendship (resemblance) with Madhava
in colour and brilliance  ?

Of Radha and Madhava, the sweet sportive play,
endowed with both fair golden
and blue hues shines resplendent.
Yamuna bears colourful countenance
and she has intimacy with Brajapura.
Yamuna, the close companion of Ganga,
bears graceful gestures.
Yamuna has blue waves and comely limbs.   (1)
*
Krishna is the beautiful personality in the world.
He is the Swan swimming in the lake
of mind of Gopi damsels.
He has slain Kamsa and is filled with sentiment
by spreading sweet tune of flute.
He has thirst for devotional feelings of his devotees.

Where is the illustrious Krishna
bearing darksome body like cloud ?
Now we are in quest of his noble self.
By him, Yamuna might be again blessed as
bestower of happiness, attractive,
free from pollution and replete with holy water.
Yamuna is the nourisher of cows
and has beautiful boats in her water.
Yamuna, the close companion of Ganga,
bears graceful gestures.
Yamuna has blue waves and comely limbs. (2)
*
Bereft of Krishna, Yamuna does not shine.
When Krishna is remembered,
she heartily gets immersed in him.
We extend our obeisance to Yamuna,
who is regarded as Kalinda’s daughter
(flowing from Kalinda mountain),
and who is glorified, blessed with her name.
Adorable is  Lord Krishna, known as fostered son
of King Nanda and with own comeliness,
he has surpassed the Love-god Kamadeva (Cupid).
Krishna, surpassing Kamadeva
and supremely charming, has spent
many hours on the sandy banks of Yamuna
and in the sylvan areas of Vrindavana.

Yamuna is the eradicator of sins
and destroyer of vices.
Yamuna, the close companion of Ganga,
bears graceful gestures.
Yamuna has blue waves and comely limbs.
Our salutations to both Krishna and Yamuna.
We express our salutations
to both Yamuna and Krishna.

Yamuna, the close companion of Ganga,
bears graceful gestures.
Yamuna has blue waves and comely limbs.
Yamuna is the close companion of Ganga.
Yamuna is effulgent  with her blue waves.  (3)
