Farewell Ceremony for Dr. Harekrishna Meher in G.M. College, Sambalpur

WORLD SANSKRIT DAY, RAKSHA BANDHAN 
and
FAREWELL CEREMONY for Dr. Harekrishna Meher
celebrated in Gangadhar Meher Autonomous College, Sambalpur.

Post-Graduate Department of Sanskrit, G.M. Autonomous College, Sambalpur, celebrated World Sanskrit Day, Raksha Bandhan Festival and Farewell Ceremony on 14 August 2014, in the Lecture Gallery-1 of the college. Principal Smt. Smita Devi presided over the meeting. Others on the dais were Dr. Harekrishna Meher {Retired Sr. Reader and Head of the PG Department of Sanskrit) as Chief Speaker, Vice-Principal Dr. Kamadeba Sahu as Guest of Honour, Sisters BK Jyoti as Chief Guest and BK Deepa as Honourable Speaker and Dr. Sureswar Meher, Sanskrit Lecturer of the Department. 

After Lighting of Lamp by the guests, Sanskrit Song ‘Sarvesham No Janani Bharata-Dharani’ was presented by the PG students of the Department. Guest of Honour, Dr. Kamadeba Sahu, delivered speech on the universal importance of Sanskrit and also expressed views on the ideal teaching and noble service to literature rendered by Dr. Harekrishna Meher who retired from his Govt. service recently.

Chief Speaker Dr.Harekrishna Meher delivered his Sanskrit speech on Indian Culture, Significance of Sanskrit in Modern Society and Progressive Trends in Modern Sanskrit Literature with its Universal Outlook.

Chief Guest BK Jyoti gave her speech on the spiritual significance of Raksha Bandhan Festival that teaches global fraternity and value-based life-style. Honourable Speaker BK Deepa delivered her speech on spiritual meditation and divine message of Supreme Being.   

Principal Smt. Smita Devi in her Presidential speech expressed her views on importance of Sanskrit Day Celebration and Raksha Bandhan Festival. Further she appreciated Dr. Harekrishna Meher as a beloved best teacher and litterateur in Sanskrit. She felicitated Dr. Meher with Anga-vastra and gifts offered to him by the students in the Farewell Ceremony meant for him. Students of the Department also expressed their experiences on their teacher Dr. Meher. In this function co-ordinated by Dr. Sureswar Meher, Brahmakumari Sisters tied sacred thread Rakhi to all present there.

Sanskrit Kavya 'Hasitasya Vayasya' (Haiku-Sijo-Tanka Anthology):‘हासितास्या वयस्या’: Dr.HKMeher

डॉहरेकृष्ण-मेहेर-प्रणीत संस्कृत काव्य 
हासितास्या वयस्या
(हाइकु-सिजो-तान्का कविताओं की सङ्कलना)

हासितास्या वयस्या : काव्य का यह अभिनव नामकरण अत्यन्त रोचक भाव से किया गया है 
और यह कवि-प्रतिभा का एक सुपरिचायक तत्त्व है
हाइकु शब्द का  प्रथम वर्ण हा,
सिजो शब्द का  प्रथम वर्ण सि
एवं तान्काशब्द का  प्रथम वर्ण ता’.  

इन तीनों को मिलाकर हासिता शब्द बनाया है कवि ने
यह हासिता शब्द संक्षेप में इन तीनों छन्दों का सूचक है  
वयस्या शब्द का अर्थ हैसखीयासहेली इसका तात्पर्य है कविता-रूपिणी सखी   
संस्कृत में आस्य शब्द का अर्थ है मुख
हासितास्या शब्द के दो अर्थ किये जा सकते हैं श्लेष-माध्यम से
 () प्रथम मुख्य अर्थ इसप्रकार है :
हासिता’ (हासिता:) आस्ये यस्याः सा, हासितास्या
जिसके मुख में हासिता है, अर्थात् हाइकु, सिजो और तान्का छन्दों का उच्चारण है
ऐसीवयस्यासखी कविता
इसप्रकार बहुब्रीहि समास में यह अर्थ व्यञ्जित होता है
() अन्य अर्थ है इसप्रकार :
हासितम् (अर्थात् हास-युक्तम्) आस्यं (मुखं) यस्याः सा, हासितास्या  
जिसका मुख हास से अर्थात् मुस्कान से युक्त है, ऐसीवयस्या’, सखी कविता  
 कविता-सखी का मुख मुस्कानभरा है और उस मुख में हाइकु-सिजो-तान्का छन्दों का 
परिप्रकाश भी है  इन दो प्रकार  अर्थों को व्यक्त करता है कवि-प्रणीत इस काव्य का 
अभिनव नामकरण हासितास्या वयस्या

आधुनिक संस्कृत साहित्य में अनेक पारम्परिक एवं नव्य संस्कृत छन्दों के साथ 
कुछ विदेशी साहित्य के काव्य-छन्दों का प्रयोग भी प्रचलित हुआ है  
इनमें जापानी छन्द हैं हाइकु, तान्का एवं कोरिया-देशीय छन्द है सिजो । 
ये काव्य-साहित्य के लघु और सार-गर्भक छन्द हैं इसलिये भारतीय साहित्य में भी 
इन छन्दों का प्रयोग होने लगा है   

सामान्यतः इन छन्दों के स्वरूप इसप्रकार हैं ।    
हाइकुछन्द में तीन अंश होते हैं : (-- वर्ण)  
सिजो’ छन्द में छह अंश होते हैं (----- वर्ण) 
तान्का’ छन्द में पाँच अंश होते हैं (----७ वर्ण)

निह्नुतं सुन्दरत्वम् (संस्कृत-कविता)
रचयिता : डॉ. हरेकृष्ण-मेहेरः

यत्र सामान्य-जनाः 
असुन्दरत्वं पश्यन्ति,
तत्र निह्नुतं वर्त्तते 
निश्चितं किञ्चित् सुन्दरत्वम् ।
तत् तु कैश्चित् द्रष्टुं शक्यते,
अन्यैः कैश्चित् तु नैव ।
स्वयं सौन्दर्यधारी
तद् द्रष्टुं पारयति,
जातुचित् नैव पारयति वा ॥

प्रत्येकस्मिन् वस्तुनि
कुत्रचित् निह्नुतं विद्यते
अनिर्वचनीयं किञ्चित् सुन्दरत्वम् ।
आवश्यकं तस्य यथार्थमनावरणम्
आवश्यकं च तस्य यथार्थं प्रकाशनम् ॥

प्रत्येकस्मिन् पदार्थे
प्राणिनि पुरुषे वा,
प्रत्येकस्यां रमण्यां वा
कुत्रचिदपि मुहूर्त्ते
निहितमस्ति रमणीयत्वम् ॥

मानवतायां सौन्दर्यं चिरन्तनम्,
व्यक्ति-रुचौ व्यक्ति-दृष्ट्यामेव
विराजते किमपि सुन्दरत्वम्,
सहृदय-हृदयस्पर्शित्वम्,
दिव्यमानन्दप्रदं नित्यं तत्त्वं तदेव ॥

Hidden Beauty
= = = = = = = = = =  
Where common people
do see no beauty,
there exists certainly
some beauty in concealed form.
That beauty can be perceived
by some persons,
also cannot be perceived
by some others.
A person who bears the beauty
own self can observe the beauty,
but sometimes is unable to observe it.    

In everything, somewhere
exists some beauty
that cannot be described in words.  
Necessary is its proper unveiling. 
Its proper manifestation also is necessary.

In every object,
In every creature,
In every man,
In every woman,
at certain moment,  
beauty exists in hidden form.

In humanistic virtue,  
beauty exists for ever.
In the liking of a person
and in the vision of a person,
some beauty exists shining.
That is the eternal phenomenon
which is verily divine, 
which bestows bliss and touches
the hearts of the connoisseurs.
