Participated in International Sanskrit Conference


Dr. Harekrishna Meher's Participation in International Conference

International Conference on Holistic Health and Yogic Practices in Vedic and Later Sanskrit Texts’ was organized by and held at P.G. Department of Sanskrit, Utkal University, Vani Vihar, Bhubaneswar, Orissa on 14th to 17th March 2011. Prof. G.K. Dash, HoD of Sanskrit of this University, was the Director of the Conference. Many scholars and researchers from India and abroad attended and participated in the Conference.

(a) Invited by the Organizing Committee of the Conference, Dr. Harekrishna Meher (Sr. Reader and Head of the Department of Sanskrit, Government Autonomous College, Bhawanipatna, Orissa), as Chairperson presided over the first session of first day’s paper-reading on 14th March 2011.

(b) Dr. Harekrishna Meher, as an invited scholar, presented his research paper in Sanskrit entitled “Rig-Vede Paryaavaranam : Ekam Anushilanam” in the paper-reading session of the second day on 15th March 2011. The paper was discussed and very much appreciated by the scholars and students present in the session.

(c) In the evening of 15th March 2011, Sanskrit Kavi-Sammelan was held by the Committee of the Conference. Eminent poet Sri S. Sundarrajan presided over the meeting, while Sanskrit poet Prof. Dr. Prafulla Kumar Mishra and Dr. Paramba Sri Yogamaya coordinated this Poets’ Conference.
Several poets participated with their poems on various aspects. Dr. Harekrishna Meher presented his original Sanskrit poem entitled “Bhaaratam Priya-Bhaaratam” (A patriotic song bearing a touch of ecological awareness and national integration). This song written by Dr. Meher with his innovated new lyric-metre in Sanskrit was presented by him with own tuning and new presentation-style. It was highly appreciated by the poets, scholars and the audience.
