English Poem 'SANSKRIT' : Dr. Harekrishna Meher

SANSKRIT  (English Poem)
By : Dr. Harekrishna Meher
= = = = = = = = = = =

O Sanskrit !
The universal divine language
on the Indian soil, well-writ,
the symbol of our cultural heritage,
manifesting Truth, Auspiciousness and Beauty
for all time to come in reality.

Adored through the ages
in the speculations of the sages,
eternal are thy contributions
to the world transcending dissolutions.
Thy peerless purifying power
gladdens the mankind with honeyed shower.

The wise call thee the language sacred.
Thou art the mother of languages,
for sooth the fountain-head,
the most scientific,
authoritative and systematic,
when someone verily envisages.
All over the world thy form has spread
surmounting all the hindrances of dread.

With thy grace from every side
let noble thoughts come to us.
Long live our humanistic pride,
the Indian culture glorious.
Thy all-encompassing view
verily scintillates always new.

Of national and global integration
Thou art the media,
the indelible index of India,
the receptacle of civilization.
Glory to thee, O Sanskrit !
the literature of immortal merit,
as modern as ever
an ambrosial river
beneficial to the entire world,
bearing the precious values of life unfurled.

अमृतमय
- - - - - - - - - - - -

The Ambrosial
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Verily I'm a drop
of the ocean of nectar.
Shunning the ocean I had risen up
in the firmament afar.
Coming down now
I've joined the ambrosial flow
and towards the ocean
ahead I'm in motion.
If I evaporate therein
on the way by the heat of sin,
in the form of dew later on
I'll descend below.
With the nectarean immortal flow,
I'll mingle in the ocean.

अमृतमय
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
मैं तो बिन्दु हूँ
अमृत-समुन्दर का,
छोड़ समुन्दर अम्बर में
ऊपर चला गया था ।
अब नीचे उतर
मिला हूँ अमृत- धारा से ;

Kuhū-Kuhū-Kūjanam
[The Cooing of Cuckoo]
By : Dr. Harekrishna Meher
= = = = = = = = = =
Sweet is the cooing of cuckoo.
Does it form worship
with chanting of incantations
for the deity of Nature ? [0]
*
Here shines the Earth
beautiful with fair fragrance.
The Night smiling with moon-beams
looks very much attractive.
O ! Come and place here
some sprinkling of divine drops.
Sweet is the cooing of cuckoo. [1]
*
The Beauty of Spring cherishes
for glory of love-dominion,
also for vast opulence of flowers
emerging from the mind of lovers.
O ! Come please
and set the mellifluous humming
enchanting in contact with the black-bee.
Sweet is the cooing of cuckoo. [2]
*
The gentle zephyr blows here.
Excellent is the attractive aroma.
The Creeper rejoices in dalliance
united with the loving Tree.
O ! Come here
and for the dear one,
offer the conjugal auspiciousness
pleasant to the mind.
Sweet is the cooing of cuckoo. [3]
*
Here is the charming damsel
bearing nobility with the hue of love.
The golden–figured lady is swinging
with the waves of sentiments.
O ! Come and place something
that eradicates the pride
of the self-conceited maidens.
Sweet is the cooing of cuckoo. [4]
*
In the ocean of life
unstable with pains and pleasures,
every moment, the bark
experiences ups and downs.
O ! Behold thereof
the best creation of pearls
in the oyster of love.
Sweet is the cooing of cuckoo. [5]
