'Jivana-Tarangini'

जीवन-तरङ्गिणी

जीवनं नाम तरङ्गिणी
व्याहताऽपि प्रवहति सुरङ्गिणी
सुख-दुःख-पार-द्वया
मिलन-विच्छेद-समया ।
विलङ्घित-सङ्कट-सङ्घ-प्रतिबन्धका
बन्धुर-मार्ग-गामिन्यपि मान्योदका,
सश्रद्धा समुच्छलित-प्रेम-वन्या
कल-निर्झरा चलति सुधन्या,
कदा निरस्त-निरिङ्गिणी
पुन-र्ध्यात-मधुर-रागिणी
सिन्धु-सङ्गम-सुधापायिनी
मञ्जुल-मञ्जीर-स्वना सञ्जीविनी ॥

Life, A River
- - - - - - - - - -
Life is a River
that flows with sportive motion
even facing obstructions.
It has both the banks
that are pleasure and pain,
and it promises both union and separation.
Crossing several adversities and hindrances,
it proceeds over the path of ups and downs,
yet its water is regarded by all.
It bears faith and here overflows
with inundation of love and affections,
and steps glorified with indistinct sweet sound.
Sometimes keeping aside the covering,
also contemplating melodious tunes,
wishing for drink of ambrosia
while mingling with sea,
and spreading the sweet jingling sound,
it forms an elixir for the beings.
